- Baud Rate
- The speed at which data can be transferred between the BBS system and your
computer.
- Bulletin Board System (BBS)
- Door
- An add on program for BBS software, usually written by a 3rd party person.
- Doorgame

- Download
- The process of transferring (copying) a file (such as a program, graphics image or
other data) from the BBS to your computer.
- Echomail
- Echomail Tosser

- File Tosser

- Freeware
- Software that can be legally be used and distributed free of charge.
- Front End Mailer (FEM)

- Protocol
- Mailer
- A program used to transfer mail and files between different BBS systems.
- Quoting
- Shareware
- Software that can be freely distributed and used for a limited trial period, but which
must paid for if you wish to continue using it after the evaluation period has
expired.
- Sysop
- System Operator
- Terminal Program
- The program you used to call a BBS. The terminal program displays information sent from
the BBS, transmits your commands to the BBS and transfers files to and from your
computer.
- Tosser
- Upload
- The process of transferring (copying) a file (such as a program, graphics image or
other data) from your computer to the BBS
